About us

Our Leadership:

Sojourner Covenant Church is led by a team of lay leaders and our pastor, Rev. Jo Ann Deasy.  Pastor Jo Ann served as the interim pastor at Sojourner for two years prior to accepting the call to serve as the permanent pastor in April 2012.

Pastor Jo Ann graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Ph.D. in Congregational Studies in 2010 with an emphasis in congregational leadership and contextual theologies.  Prior to  full-time studies she served for 7 years as the Dean of Students and Community Life at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago.  She is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church and has served on staff at congregations in Duluth, MN and Mercer Island, WA.  In addition to serving as pastor at Sojourner, Pastor Jo Ann is an adjunct professor at Garrett and at North Park.

Sojourner has also been blessed to be served by a series of seminary and undergraduate pastoral interns who serve as the church staff under Pastor Jo Ann.

The Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through a faith with Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God’s love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength the comes from unity within diversity.
