Our Worship

Our worship offers a blend of contemporary worship, solid biblical preaching, a heart for justice and warm fellowship in a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes all ages to come as you are.

Blended Worship:

We are blessed at Sojourner to have several strong worship teams who rotate leadership on Sunday mornings.  The teams are made up of passionate, gifted college and seminary students as well as several other gifted and experienced musicians.  Our worship teams draw on both contemporary and traditional music resources and seek to continually expand our repertoire to express worship that is more reflective of the diversity of our kingdom.

Solid Biblical Preaching:

Sojourner Covenant Church has a preaching team that shares the pulpit on Sunday mornings.  The preaching team includes:
  • Úna Lucey-Lee, Regional Leadership Development Coordinator for InterVarsity Fellowship
  • Bill Myatt, Ph.D. candidate at Loyola University in constructive theology
  • Melanie Myatt, M.Div., frequent contributor to the Chicago Mom's Blog
  • Ken Oliver, Executive Director of the Chicago Bible Society
Pastor Jo Ann preaches twice a month with the preaching team leading on the other two Sundays.

A Heart for Justice:

At Sojo, we integrate a passion for justice with a heart for evangelism.  Therefore, our worship includes prayer for and, at times, response to various justice issues in our community, our country, and our world.

Warm Fellowship:

Fellowship and community are at the heart of Sojourner.  On Sunday mornings they are experienced through an open time of sharing prayer requests during the service and a coffee hour following the service.

Welcoming All Ages:

In addition to Sunday School, each week there is a story at the rug (a children's sermon) during the service.  And, several times a year we have intergenerational worship services that incorporate various learning styles, especially those of our children.
